Redbubble: Make Pins A Product Option

The Issue

Dear CEO Newstead,

It doesn't take a marketing genius or trend guru to realize how popular pins are on the internet right now, particularly enamel pins. This petition seeks to ask you add pins of any kind, ideally enamel pins, to Redbubble as a product option for artists. I know that many product options in the past such as calendars have been pulled due to lack of sales, but even as someone with an average grasp on current trends, I can assure Redbubble staff that pin sales would not suffer from the same problem.

Using a quick analysis of Google Search trends in the last five years, you'll notice that since 2018 there has been a spike in searches for enamel pins. This is a market that I'm sure Redbubble would like to take advantage of, and I'm sure it's artists would appreciate it.

Furthermore, the need for enamel pins is evidenced by the growing economy of faux enamel pins on Redbubble. While the site does not offer this product, the enamel pin aesthetic is in such high demand that artists sell design boards meant to look like walls of enamel pins on a display board, or stickers with a design mimicking an enamel pin.

Faux Enamel Pins on Redbubble

I don't pretend to know much about the logistics of enamel pin production, but even if it is a difficult and expensive product to produce, I have complete confidence that it would hugely benefit the Redbubble company and the artists who work with it. It would also put Redbubble many steps ahead of competing merch sites like Society6, Threadless, and Zazzle, websites that don't offer pins of any kind as products yet either. Even if true enamel pins aren't feasible for Redbubble to produce, I can tell you that button pins are incredibly cheap, costing mere cents to make, and that making them a product option on Redbubble would be more than worth it.

I love Redbubble, I love the community, and I love the bright, graphic art styles that flourish there. I think the site would only be enhanced by the addition of pins, and I urge you to add them as a product.

Sincerely a Redbubble artist,

Jo Moses
