Help vacate the homeless camps behind Sacred Heart School & the Forward Addition

Help vacate the homeless camps behind Sacred Heart School & the Forward Addition
The Issue
Over the past several years Red Bluff has seen a huge increase in our city's homeless population. Behind Sacred Heart School on 116 acres of privately owned property are several homeless camps. Many have been there for years. I live on the county side of that fence and there has been multiple camps in and out of the area, one just 20 yards off of my property line for over 7 years now.
We have allowed our local law enforcement as well as PATH access through our property to remove some of the homeless that were criminals as well as clean up the garbage in that area. In the past year mentally disabled, drugged out and dangerous people such as convicted felons who have rape and sodomy charges have been living on the property. One was arrested as he continuously trespassed on ours and our neighbors property. Most recently RBPD arrested a convicted felon with high powered rifles and methamphetamines in their possession! Over the years we have had several people trespass our property. One man was carrying a large machete style knife.
Not only is this a safety issue, but these people create a health issue in the area that they are living in. They leave tons of garbage, urine and fecal matter. They dig holes and run electrical cords and generators during the summer time when the fire danger is high. It's disgusting and it should be a concern to the property owner. He has never replied to the letters I have written him over the years. My family and our rural neighborhood live with this every day and it is also directly behind one of our local schools. How long do we have to put up with this in our City? Will it not be stopped until a child is hurt?
By signing this petition you are stating that:
- You oppose the homeless tent camps in that area and behind Sacred Heart School.
- You're stating that you feel that it presents a risk to the safety and well being of our children in the neighborhood, the children that attend the school as well as the staff that works at that school.
- We are asking the City Council to file a public nuisance case against the landowner or owners in that area to build a fence to keep the homeless out of that area.
- We are asking that the owner or owners be asked to provide a Trespass Letter to help our law enforcement to be able to enforce the removal of these people from the property and that that letter be kept up to date and renewed as needed.
Please take a moment to voice your support by signing this petition and please share socially any other way you can with other community members for the safety of all of us. Many of us will be attending the March 1st City Council Meeting at 6pm and we would like to have you join us at City Hall at 555 Washington Street. Thank you for your help to clean up Red Bluff!
