Because I believe in the importance of accurate knowledge dissemination, I have a deep-seated desire to tell people that, scientifically, bananas are berries. But what is a berry? According to the Biological Journal of the Linnean Society, a berry is a fleshy fruit without a stone (produced from a single flower containing one ovary) and bananas fit that bill. Conversely, strawberries do not--they are 'aggregate fruits', since each 'seed' (achene) is technically a separate fruit!

So, I propose we officially change strawberries' name to 'Straw' or 'Strawfruit'. It's a name that better aligns with the truth of their botanical category. In the same spirit of accuracy, let's also rename bananas as 'Bananaberries'.

Updating these fruit names benefits everyone. It aids in children's educational journeys by providing clear and accurate information, enables adults to rethink the 'normal', and overall, encourages us all to question and learn.
