The Issue

Redstone Credit Union has long been a beacon of financial opportunity for its members, providing exceptional benefits through its Visa Signature card, most notably the 5% cashback on gas and restaurant purchases. Such benefits positioned Redstone as one of the most attractive options for joining a credit union.

However, the recently announced plans to reduce these cashback benefits are a step in the wrong direction. These high cashback incentives have been a cornerstone for many members' loyalty and have encouraged countless others to join. Modifying this aspect could jeopardize Redstone's standing as a leader in member satisfaction and an option for more financial products offerings.

There may be concerns about the sustainability of such high cashback rates.  However, just like most grocery stores lose money on rotisserie chickens, it benefits them overall because it attracts more customers to show up and spend on other products.  We need to look beyond just a single product’s profitability.  The visa signature in current form to Redstone is like rotisserie chickens to grocery stores.  Many members signed up for the card because of word of mouth, and it opens them to other products offered by the credit union.

Instead of reducing these cashback benefits, there are alternative measures that could be considered.  For example, implementing a requirement for members to maintain a minimum balance of $500 in one of their accounts  (Checking, Savings, CDs, etc.) could serve as a viable solution. Such a strategy ensures that Redstone maintains its most valuable product, thereby sustaining its appeal and the satisfaction of its members.

We ask the decision-makers at Redstone Credit Union to explore such alternatives and maintain the integrity of the 5% cashback on both gas and restaurants that so many members signed up for.  We want to preserve the trust and loyalty we have for Redstone and continue enjoying the benefits that have been promised to us.

Please sign this petition to let Redstone Credit Union know that you value the current Visa Signature cashback offerings and encourage them to reconsider any changes to this program. Together, we can ensure that our voices are heard and that Redstone remains a proud provider of financial excellence.
