The Issue

Togo was an extraordinary Siberian Husky, whose achievements in the harsh terrains of Alaska have inspired many through the film "Togo." He was no ordinary dog; he was a hero whose actions have become a significant part of history. In 1925, Togo played an essential role in the serum run to Nome, exhibiting unparalleled courage and endurance. He covered an astonishing distance of over 260 miles, battling arctic conditions to deliver life-saving diphtheria anti-toxin. His partnership with Leonhard Seppala was life-saving and changed the course of history.

Despite the challenges, Togo's determination and bravery were unwavering. He navigated through treacherous paths and kept Seppala from danger numerous times. Togo's contribution didn't gain the recognition it deserved in his lifetime. Though he was voted the number one heroic animal of all time by Time magazine, public knowledge of his feats remains limited.

It's time for us to extend more recognition to Togo's legacy. While Balto has received much fame for the final sprint, it was Togo's endurance and leadership through the most punishing parts of the journey that made that sprint possible. We propose to honor Togo officially by demonstrating to Disney that the film they made, and withdrew from availability, should be restored to either Disney+ or as a DVD release.

Let's celebrate Togo's bravery by educating people about his invaluable role and ensuring his legacy stands as a testament to the heroism of sled dogs. Join us in recognizing the noble spirit of a dog who defied the odds and became a beacon of hope.
