Recognize the Tribal Status of African Diaspora and Hebrew Lineage in America
The Issue
I am a descendant of the African diaspora, a lineage that traces back to ancient Hebrew roots. Like a tiger isn't free in Texas, or a lion isn't free in Louisiana, an African isn't truly free in America. This is not just my story but the story of millions who share this heritage.
The majority of descendants of slaves brought to America are believed to be from Hebrew lineage. Yet, this significant cultural identity has been overlooked and unrecognized by our nation's government. We demand official recognition for our tribal status and acknowledgment of our unique heritage.
Furthermore, we call for the right to return those among us who wish so, back to the shores their ancestors were stolen from. This is not simply about reparation; it's about acknowledging historical injustices and making strides towards healing.
According to data from The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database, approximately 12.5 million Africans were shipped as slaves between 1525-1866 (Eltis & Richardson). These individuals were torn away from their homelands and forced into servitude on foreign soil – an injustice that continues to impact their descendants today.
We urge you all - citizens, lawmakers alike - recognize our tribal status as descendants of the African diaspora with Hebrew lineage in America. Acknowledge our history; acknowledge us! It's time we reclaim what was taken away centuries ago!
