Recognize the Sally Rose Mansion as a Historical Landmark

The Issue

Sally Abney Rose, a cherished member of our community, had a beautiful home built in 1948. This home is not just an architectural marvel but also a symbol of our shared history and heritage. It stands as a testament to the era it was built in and the woman who once lived there. As members of Anderson, SC community, we believe this mansion deserves recognition for its historical significance.

The Sally Rose Mansion has stood strong for over seven decades now. Sally Rose had an extensive art collection that she allowed people to view as well as hosted weddings in her home. Her kindness and generosity makes it an important piece of our local history. Moreover, preserving such landmarks is crucial to maintaining cultural continuity and educating future generations about their roots.

We understand that recognizing a site as a historical landmark involves certain criteria set by National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). However, considering its age, significance in representing mid-20th-century architecture style and connection with Sally Abney Rose - an influential figure in our community - we are confident that this mansion meets these criteria.

Therefore, we urge relevant authorities to consider designating the Sally Rose Mansion as an official historical landmark. By doing so, they will be preserving not only bricks and mortar but also stories and memories that form part of Anderson's rich history.

Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving our shared heritage for future generations.
