My name is Megan, and my son Hunter was born on February 16th at 19 weeks.

When I gave birth to my baby boy, I was told he could not have a birth certificate as he wasn’t seen as a baby, as he was born before I hit 24 weeks in my pregnancy.

He was born with 10 little fingers, 10 little toes and a perfect little face.

How can you tell a mother who has just gone through the pain and trauma of giving birth, that they never really gave birth at all? My little boy had a heartbeat until the very end. 

As his little body was shutting down, the muscles in his hand tightened, gripping around my finger. How can you say he wasn’t a baby?

The pain is real, the grief is real. OUR baby boy is real.
