DEPUTY MAYOR ERIC JOYCE on March 24, 2026, agreed to meet with us within two weeks to discuss what actual actions will be taken. We will make sure he keeps his promise.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the meeting and voiced your concerns!

Our neighborhood's safety is at risk from illegal parking, and the City isn't helping. It's time to demand action.
A commercial operation at 701 West St. is using our residential streets as its private parking lot, creating a public safety hazard. This violates the City of Oceanside's own laws, yet officials have suspended all parking enforcement, leaving us to deal with the consequences.

The Problem: Unsafe Streets & City Inaction

  • Blocked Driveways & Blind Corners: Patrons of the business are illegally parking, blocking resident driveways and creating dangerous visibility issues.
  • Emergency Access at Risk: Illegally parked cars can prevent fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles from reaching our homes.
  • The Law is Being Ignored: Oceanside's Municipal Code (Article 31) requires businesses to provide their own off-street parking. The city is failing to enforce its own law.

What We Are Demanding from the City
We want to send a formal Neighbor Impact Statement to the City Council with clear, legally-sound demands. We are not asking for special treatment; we are demanding the city do its job.

  1. Enforce the Law: Deny all business permits until the parking violations are fixed.
  2. Require a Real Parking Plan: Force the business to create and fund its own off-site parking and shuttle plan.
  3. Resume Ticketing & Towing: Immediately restart enforcement of parking laws in our neighborhood.
  4. Protect Our Neighborhood: Start the process of creating a Residential Permit Parking zone to prevent this from happening again.
