Question to those that have children in our public school system here in Amador:

I saw a survey to pick the mascot for the "Consolidated High School," and it was shut down due to the negative input. Does everyone forget we elect the superintendent for our district? If you aren't happy with the decisions being made, you petition to recall the person. It is very obvious that none of us want this to happen, yet the superintendent doesn't seem to listen, which shows she doesn't care about what we want for our children. Is anyone willing to stand side by side and recall the current superintendent? I am. I homeschool now due to the poor decisions that keep being made but will still stand with my fellow parents in this school district to keep what we have. The superintendent could be taking the money and fixing our schools instead of just shutting them down and consolidating. Our population in the county isn't shrinking. Why would you want 1,000+ children in one high school and 1,000+ in one junior high? A good chunk of our property taxes goes to the schools. Why aren't we telling the superintendent how to spend the money? If she doesn't want to listen and respect our wishes, she loses the job. 

Yes, it costs money to do this, but that's what our tax dollars are for. The county is supposed to have an "emergency fund " for these very reasons. Our children aren't going to get the education they deserve with the decisions she's making. Our athletic programs are going to suffer. More children will get left behind because the teachers will be overwhelmed due to bigger class sizes. 

We need to remind elected officials who they work for, us, not them.
