Recall MAXIMEA VIGILANT for his endless animal abuse against Harris county shelter pets

Recall MAXIMEA VIGILANT for his endless animal abuse against Harris county shelter pets
The Issue
This petition pertains to Harris county animal shelter located at 612 Canino Rd, Houston, TX 77076.
Recently the shelter underwent yet another change in leadership to appoint a new director, MAXIMEA ERASMEA VIGILANT. This new director introduced a sweeping mass euthanasia policy for surrendered animals giving little to no chance for rescues and adopters to pull animals out of the shelter. His goal is to euthanize animals, regardless if they are healthy and VERY adoptable. Vigilant has absolutely no experience in shelter pets since he spent his entire career working as an exterminator for Harris county. He is simply treating shelter pets as mosquitos. Since July 2022:
1- Animals are euthanized on daily basis without notice, and their status is labeled as "unavailable" instead of euthanized.
2- Shelter operators were instructed to cease all communication with rescues, adopters, volunteers, networkers, and fosters, including sharing basic information about available pets.
3- Animal rescues can no longer tag animals over the phone and were instructed to send an email, which can take up to a week before its answered, and in most cases, the animal is euthanized within that time period.
4- Shelter staff is prohibited from collaborating or sharing information with volunteer-run pages on social media (mainly Facebook) and networkers that feature animals on the euthanasia list. Volunteer-run pages on Facebook are the shelter's backbone; a platform that showcases animals at risk of euthanasia.
The new administration under Max Vigilant lacks empathy and transparency. Citizens of Harris county and their pets deserve better leadership, which is what we aim for in the next election cycle. Harris county animal shelter had come a long way from the dark ages thanks to outstanding volunteers, donors, rescues, and networkers working overtime around the clock. All this hard work is now crumbling into pieces because of Max Vigilant's administration.
IF YOU WANT TO HELP US & SPEAK FOR SHELTER PETS WHO ARE SUFFERING THE CONSEQUENCES of this administration, PLEASE EMAIL the relevant AUTHORITIES. We need YOUR SUPPORT!!!
