Recall Commissioner Raquel Regalado for Criminalizing Compassion Towards Animals

Recall Commissioner Raquel Regalado for Criminalizing Compassion Towards Animals
The Issue
🚨ALERT: RAQUEL REGALADO WANTS TO CRIMINALIZE KINDNESS 🚨
Miami Dade County Commissioner Raquel Regalado is sponsoring a dangerous ordinance—Section 21-30.4—that would make it ILLEGAL to feed feral cats, feral dogs, and even peafowl on public or commercial property in Miami-Dade County. Ordinance Section 21-30.4, sponsored by Raquel Regalado, would criminalize compassion towards helpless animals! As a resident of Miami-Dade County, I am deeply concerned about the implications of this ordinance which include:
• The animals abandoned and failed by our community? You’ll now be fined for trying to help them.
• Volunteers, caregivers, and animal lovers who feed starving strays could be penalized under civil law.
• This proposal uses “education campaigns” as a front while planning delayed enforcement—but enforcement nonetheless.
This is NOT the solution. This is county-sanctioned cruelty disguised as policy!
This ordinance represents a step back for our community, known for its diversity and inclusivity, including our approach to animal welfare. This new law threatens to penalize those who are acting selflessly, trying to protect and care for the animals who cannot fend for themselves.
Commissioner Regalado’s actions not only hurt our animals, but they also discourage consideration of any real solutions. We cannot stand by as a law is put in place to criminalize acts of kindness and caring. Instead of criminalizing compassion, we should be encouraging more humane solutions and support for our vulnerable animal community.
This ordinance can lead to unnecessary legal consequences for good-hearted residents doing what they can to prevent animal suffering. The consequences of such a law are far-reaching: increased suffering among animals, strained relationships between local government and its residents, and a chilling effect on proactive community members aiming to do good.
To protect the ethos of compassion that our community holds dear, it's imperative that Commissioner Raquel Regalado be recalled. She has advocated for one terrible policy after another from moving the UDB to always supporting overdevelopment and now animal cruelty. Enough is enough! Our county deserves leaders who promote empathy, not those who criminalize it.
This recall is crucial to ensure that our representatives truly embody the principles of kindness and compassion we value in Miami Dade County. Please join us in standing up for what is right.
