Recall Ambassador Huckabee for Undermining U.S. Diplomatic Interests
The Issue
Recall Ambassador Mike Huckabee
We call for the dismissal and recall of Ambassador Mike Huckabee from his post as United States Ambassador to Israel.
An ambassador’s duty is to represent the policies and interests of the United States and the administration they serve. Ambassador Huckabee has repeatedly failed to meet that standard.
On June 16, 2026, President Trump stated: “Without the US, there would be no Israel. Without me, there would be no Israel because no other president was willing to do what I did. I have had a great relationship with Bibi. Now Bibi has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon.” Ambassador Huckabee publicly contradicted the President by responding that “without Israel, the United States would not exist.”
An ambassador is not elected to set foreign policy or publicly challenge the administration they represent. If Ambassador Huckabee disagrees with administration policy, he should resign or raise those disagreements privately rather than undermine the President publicly.
This was not an isolated lapse in judgment. In 2011, Huckabee advocated for the release of Jonathan Pollard and later met Pollard in Jerusalem while serving in an official capacity in 2025. That history raises serious concerns about his judgment and his understanding of the obligations owed by American officials.
Huckabee has also publicly endorsed expansive territorial claims in the region. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, he stated that Israel would be justified in taking territory broadly described as extending “from the Nile to the Euphrates,” saying that “it would be fine if they took it all.” Statements of this kind undermine longstanding American diplomatic positions, weaken relationships with regional partners, and embolden expansionist elements in Israeli politics.
Huckabee also compared the conduct of the Israeli military favorably against that of the United States military, stating: “Israel takes steps we don't take and no other country takes to try to prevent casualties.” Such comparisons are inappropriate for an American diplomat whose responsibility is to represent American institutions and American interests—not elevate a foreign military above his own country’s.
For these reasons, Ambassador Huckabee should be dismissed and recalled as United States Ambassador to Israel.
