Rebuild Jannat al-Baqi - Restore the Sanctity of Islamic Heritage

The Issue

On this day, we remember one of the most painful chapters in Islamic history. 8th Shawwal marks 102 years since the sacred cemetery of Jannat al-Baqi was razed to the ground by the Al-Saud regime.

This was not merely an act of demolition; it was an erasure of our collective spiritual memory. Jannat al-Baqi was the final resting place of some of the most revered figures in Islam: Lady (janabe bibi) Fatima Zehra (sa), daughter of the Prophet Mohammad(pbuh), and the esteemed Imams of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them). These were not just graves-they were sacred symbols of history, faith, sacrifice, and unity.

For over a century, the ground where these noble souls rest has remained bare and unmarked, stripped of dignity and recognition. This continued silence is a wound in the hearts of millions, a wound that refuses to heal.

We believe Jannat al-Baqi deserves more.

Its destruction was not only a cultural loss, it was a direct blow to Islamic identity, to our roots, and to our right to preserve history. Jannat al-Baqi is not just a cemetery; it is a spiritual landmark, a heritage site, and a place of immense reverence for believers across the globe.

Therefore, we raise our voices and call upon leaders, scholars, human rights organizations, and people of conscience around the world:

We demand the reconstruction of Jannat al-Baqi.

We demand the restoration of dignity to those who shaped the foundation of Islam.

We demand justice for the sanctity that was violated.

Let us not allow the silence of stones to replace the voices of truth. A century is long enough. The time to act is now.
