I was somewhat proud to see our country rush to the rescue in the aftermath of Haiti's devastating earthquake.  But, we all know Haiti's deep troubles predate the quake, and Haitians need more than just our temporary assistance.  Fortunately, Haiti is small enough that full reconstruction is achievable, and there will never be a better time to make a lasting difference in the lives of millions.  Led by the United States, rich nations should forgive Haiti's debt and then develop, with full Haitian participation, a ten year campaign to rebuild schools, the health system, buildings, roads, water supplies, and the eco-systems.  I urge you to provide American leadership and funds in a long overdue effort to rebuild Haiti, as soon as possible.
