Corby Bridge (State Route 353 over the Nolichucky River in Chuckey, Tennessee) was destroyed during Hurricane Helene, leaving our community divided and struggling with long detours, delayed emergency response times, and disruptions to daily life.

This bridge is a critical connection for residents, businesses, schools, and emergency services in Washington County.

We, the undersigned, are calling on the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), Washington County officials, and our elected representatives to take immediate action to:

Rebuild Corby Bridge with a modern, flood-resistant design

Utilize all available federal and state funding, including FEMA disaster relief funds

Provide a clear and public timeline for reconstruction

Keep the community informed throughout the process

The continued absence of this bridge is placing unnecessary strain on our community. We respectfully urge officials to prioritize this project and restore safe and reliable access across the Nolichucky River. 

Families are driving miles out of the way just to get to work school or the store emergency response times are longer and local businesses are being affected rebuilding Corby bridge isn't just about convenience it's about safety access and keeping our community connected.
