Bradwell Institute has been at the heart of our community for many years, but it is time for a change. Our beloved school has faced numerous challenges in recent years, including significant issues with its infrastructure. The gym recently suffered from a major water leak, and there have been persistent problems with rodents, HVAC malfunctions, plumbing smells, and clogged drainage systems. These conditions are not only unsanitary but have also led to health concerns for many students. The safety and well-being of our children should never be compromised.

Surrounding counties in Liberty County are advancing by leaps and bounds, investing in new school buildings and modernizing facilities to provide top-tier education environments. It's frustrating and disappointing that while these developments are occurring, Bradwell Institute remains stuck in the past. Community leaders and the Liberty County Board of Education have urged residents to support funding through penny taxes, yet our district’s infrastructure needs continue to be neglected.

In addition to these pressing issues, we must also re-evaluate our dress code policy to ensure it aligns with several priorities, including security and the ability to identify students easily. These updates are crucial for a fostering a safe learning environment.

I believe that the Liberty County Board of Education should prioritize rebuilding and upgrading Bradwell Institute and investigate feasible ways to adjust the dress code that maintains security measures. We owe it to our children to provide them with a safe, modern, and conducive environment for their education.
