It is 2020, and The Violence Against Women Act is still gathering dust on Mitch McConnell's desk. This year, GOP Senator Joni Ernst, the lead Republican stalling action on the VAWA, is up for re-election.

Out of four candidates running for the Iowa Senate Seat, only one has pledged to reauthorize the VAWA if Congress does not get the job done. That candidate is Kimberly Graham, a child welfare attorney from Iowa. The remaining three candidates, Theresa Greenfield, Michale Franken, and Eddie Mauro have made no commitment to survivors and victims. That is unacceptable.

The primary for the Iowa Senate race is June 2nd. Here are some ways to make your voice heard before then:
1. Donate to Kimberly Graham. She is THE outspoken advocate for The Violence Against Women Act -- the only candidate in the Iowa Senate race who is brave enough to declare the VAWA a priority of her campaign. We know that if she is elected, unlike Joni Ernst, the VAWA will get passed under her leadership. If you are an advocate for VAWA, you should be an advocate for Graham.
2. Tweet/Call/Write the remaining candidates to express the same commitment from them that Kimberly Graham has made. Theresa Greenfield is currently LEADING the race. She's the favorite of the DNC. Why doesn't the DNC consider the VAWA important? Why won't she declare the VAWA a priority of her administration?
3. Write to local media! The Violence Against Women Act is on the ballot. Letters to the editor on why the VAWA matters to you as a voter, etc.
