1. Numerous mass shootings could have been prevented by the boyfriend loophole.
2. Half of all female homicide victims are killed by intimate partners. In 10 percent of those cases, there were opportunities for intervention, while The Violence Against Women Act gathers dust on Mitch McConnel's desk.
3. Immigrant men and women are at particular risk of domestic violence. Opportunities for self-petition, U-Vias and T-Visas to protect victims and their children are at risk while our president spews anti-immigrant rhetoric, instilling fear amongst the community to use any of these services.
4. DV shelters, nonprofits and organizations that depend on grant money from the Violence Against Women Act are starting to feel the effects from its expiration. They are worried that they aren't going to be able to depend on the money they had before, and won't be able to continue their work.
5. The indigenous community needs tribal jurisdiction to prosecute perpetrators of domestic violence on their land. Every day Congress ignores this problem, victims in the indigenous community are tortured while their perpetrators run free.
