REAL CHANGE, END POVERTY NOW!

REAL CHANGE, END POVERTY NOW!

The Issue

I, one of the student of Jones Rural School, believe that thousands of families are living in abject poverty; a state of condition in which one lacks the financial resources and essentials for a certain standard of living.

People affected by poverty face challenges in meeting basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare. Limited access to education and employment opportunities often perpetuates a cycle of poverty, impacting overall well-being and social mobility. It can also lead to health issues, inequality, and a lack of resources for personal and professional development. Government policies, social programs, and community support play crucial roles in addressing poverty and promoting economic stability.

I want to make change and act for them. According to RA 1129, otherwise known as Magna Carta of the poor, provides that it is the policy of the state to uplift the living and quality of the life of the poor and provide them with sustained opportunities for growth and development' and to invest in 'anti-poverty programs to enable the poor to fully participate for their future generations.

To prevent poverty, a multifaceted approach is necessary, encompassing economic, social, and educational strategies. Firstly, fostering inclusive economic growth is vital, ensuring job creation and fair wages. Additionally, social safety nets, such as affordable healthcare and housing, can provide a buffer against financial shocks.

Education plays a pivotal role in poverty prevention. Accessible and quality education equips individuals with skills needed for better job opportunities, breaking the cycle of poverty. Furthermore, targeted policies to address systemic inequalities and promote equal opportunities are crucial.

Community involvement and support systems are essential. Initiatives that provide mentorship, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship training empower individuals to navigate economic challenges. Government policies should focus on reducing income inequality and creating an environment conducive to social mobility.
