Re-Pave Buffalo Road Completely for Safer and Cost-Efficient Travel

Re-Pave Buffalo Road Completely for Safer and Cost-Efficient Travel
The Issue
Many residents of the City of Negaunee, myself included, have experienced the discomfort and potential danger of driving on Buffalo Road. The current state of the road is very poor - so poor, in fact, that it is causing financial and emotional distress to us. On March 23rd, 2025 while I was driving with my children, on our way to Appleton for a nice spring break vacation, a 12” long loose chunk of pavement put a huge puncture wound in my tire, and it completely popped. It wasn’t repairable. This incident not only cost me hundreds of dollars in repair costs, and rescheduling our vacation, but also terrified my young ones.
Every year, the city patches the potholes on Buffalo Road, but the problem persists. The half measures taken to handle the issue are proving costly for the residents and leading to a deterioration of our quality of life. Regular patching is akin to putting a band-aid on a wound that requires surgery. A full re-pavement of Buffalo Road is the only solution to amicably solve the issue, ensuring safety and reducing unnecessary costs for its users.
This situation is not a simple inconvenience; it represents a threat to public safety. A 2016 study from the American Automobile Association found that potholes cause an approximate $3 billion in vehicle damage each year across the United States (source: AAA).
It is time for us to demand that the city takes our concerns seriously. We deserve roads that are kept in good condition - roads that don't endanger our safety or strain our finances. Please sign this petition and help us urge the City of Negaunee to fully re-pave Buffalo Road.
