Many local people rely on the Wimbledon Park Cafe as a social outlet - it can be the only place to stop on a daily walk, and the only friendly face people see. This cafe is a lifeline for some elderly and lonely people and is an essential part of the community.

The cafe in Wimbledon Park will soon have been closed for 2 years, with no communication from the new leaseholders, Cooks and Partners, to the community. There is no timeline for it to re-open.

Merton Council must either ensure the new leaseholder re-opens the cafe within 3 months or offer to return the lease to its previous owner, Mario, at its original cost and on a long-term basis.
