Re-Open Stage Stop Campground

Re-Open Stage Stop Campground
The Issue
Stage Stop Campground, located in Harrison-Crawford State Forrest in Southern Indiana, was a low priced, primitive camp closed for the 2013 season. This public park/camp with Blue River access was a landmark for families looking for a place to enjoy the outdoors and not have to worry about the expense.
Stage Stop offered primitive camping, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, open area's for outdoor activities, etc.
Stage Stop Campground is currently under the maintenance of Harrison-Crawford State Forrest - 812-738-7694 - HarrisonSF@dnr.IN.gov
As of 2/8/21 HCSF has NO plans to do anything with it.
Dan Bortner (Director of Indiana Department of Natural Resources) said: FEB 6, 2014 — The decision to temporarily close the Stage Stop property was based upon the need for improvements to the restroom facilities and water systems to bring it up to the necessary health standards for a public facility. While we do plan to open at the property in the future, those wishing to camp in the interim are encouraged to stay with us at one of the other campgrounds located on the property.
Enough time has passed!
What we want:
1. Re-Open Stage Stop Campground to affordable primitive camping. Camping rates have become too high for many in order to provide showers, electricity, and hookups at every camp site. These amenities are not necessary or requested by many of us but still are made to pay for them at larger parks and forestry's.
2. Access to Stage Stop Blue River access point opened by Summer 2021 to help people get out and enjoy nature while social distancing.
3. Open Stage Stop Blue River Access to day use year round. River access points should be available to the public.
Please take a moment to look at the pictures at the Indianaoutfitters.com page to see what Stage Stop looked like back when families were still able to make memories there. (Scroll down and click links labeled Stagestop) https://www.indianaoutfitters.com/riveraccesspoints/blue/
