We, the students of Craig Kielburger Secondary School in Milton, Ontario, believe that portables should remain open throughout breaks. It is a safe space for people to gather, away from the harsh and unpredictable Canadian climate, allowing students who want to gather with their friends, but don’t have a location nearby, the means to do so. There was no issue in having supervision prior to the stoppage, henceforth there should not be one going forward, as no more than two teachers should be required. It was unnecessary to close them in the first place, it’s another place for students to communicate during break and should not be taken away due to the re-opening of the cafeteria.
