Re-Alive the Sierra Vista Mall

Re-Alive the Sierra Vista Mall
The Issue
Over the years, as popular stores were taken out the mall, the Sierra Vista Mall started dying. Ever since 1999, people expressed that they thought the mall was small, taken up by their two anchors, Dillard’s and Sears. Sears is no longer in the mall, while Dillard’s is too big for how out of want it is. In the mall's starting days, people referred to it as "The Hall" or "The Small" for how small it was, resembling a hallway with stores on the sides.
Feedback gathered from people of many different ages all brought around the same opinion: the mall has fallen short of expectations and its former appeal has significantly faded. Many in the community have expressed a desire for the mall to undergo a transformation and rejuvenation, believing that such improvements would draw new traction and breathe new life into the space.
Even though Sierra Vista is a big city, it doesn’t have many places for youth and adults alike to hang out. There’s no longer many relevant stores and the mall has become sad and dead, its former fame gone. Even since the start, people have said that Sierra Vista Mall has never had the right mix of stores.
Our thought is to redo (or to even ask to build an entirely new shopping center on commercial land near Buffalo Soldier or Fry!) the mall by expanding its size and introducing a diverse selection of stores that cater to the needs and interests of today's customers. A larger, more modern mall would not only bring in businesses that appeal to past, present, and future visitors but also create a better space for community events and activities. This transformation is essential to restore the mall's energy and prominence, returning it to the thriving hub it once was.
Sierra Vista is a large city with untapped potential, yet it lacks a space where residents can gather, shop, and enjoy themselves. A re-visioned mall would not only serve as a shopping destination but also as a social hub providing entertainment, dining, and events that cater to the People of Sierra Vista.
