D.Tech Constitutional Amendment #1:
For every unique club of Design Tech High School, they are allowed to have a maximum of one food saIe per week, either during before school or after school, given that clubs sign up at least one week in advance. If a club is selling before school, they're only allowed to sell desert food or drinks. If time slots are not filled up by the Sunday night of the week, a club that is already participating in a fundraiser that week is allowed to sign up for the other time slots as well. If time slots are full, sign up deadlines will be extended longer if needed. Time slots must accommodate for school scheduling conflicts. Food vendors will be provided with a box of gloves.
The reasoning for this amendment:
Some clubs would like to be financially independent, and not always rely on welfare grants from Design Tech High School. However, the tools clubs require to become financially independent, such as food sales on the property of Design Tech High School, is restricted to one food sale every club for their entire existence. If the regulated market of food sales are permitted, students would be less inclined to spend money on nearby stores such as In-n-Out and L&L, and buy the clubs’ food instead. The money that goes into clubs goes straight into the Design Tech High School community instead, rather than other big corporate restaurants. The school can also lower the spending of their money on clubs since they would be financially independent. This bill makes sure to leave out access to PAB and lunch, because this cripples the free and reduced lunch market.
