Rasmussen College/University should Grandfather in Nursing Students in Old Curriculum
The Issue
Rasmussen College/University has continued to burden students financially, emotionally, and physically. The University has taken advantage of students changing many requirements every term since January of 2020. The lack of honesty with students when signing up for the nursing program, orientation seminars, and changing curriculum requirements during and after the start of programs and before a new term is alarming. Rasmussen has started a new curriculum for their nursing students but has continued to push all new regulations on their old curriculum students ( Health Assessment, Professional Nursing I, II, III, etc.). Continuously changing last-minute decisions on students taking ATI proctors or not while under preparing students with expectations of adjusting to more difficult self-taught courses, a pandemic, and other struggles within the nursing curriculum have a breaking point. These extreme changes will make many students' dreams of becoming nurses more difficult, leaving them financially in debt and adding to a further need for more nurses in the field. Students in the old curriculum have never been ok with the constant changes. We are coming together in UNITY to end the latest ATI proctor requirement being a level 1 or automatically failing the nursing course and removing the 20% and 40% grading scale associated with these proctors. Students in the old curriculum should be held to the original learning requirements (be grandfathered in). Rasmussen should not continue to change this each term. Implementing the new curriculum (Physical Assessment, MDC I, II, III, etc.) should be for those students in those courses only. Let us work together to change these unfair standards.
