Our services are crucial to the community, yet, we are confronted with the challenges of high living costs in the vicinity of the hospital. Many of us reside in Burnaby, far from our workplaces, and the available transit options remain insufficient. Our commutes are lengthy, the burden we carry is heavy, and it invariably adds to our stress. It is clear that the current transit facilities are weighing on our ability to efficiently provide our services and is negatively affecting staff retention.

We strongly believe that a Rapid Bus on the bus number 25 route would drastically alleviate our commuting woes. According to TransLink's data from 2023, Bus 25 is one of the most frequented routes ranking #5, with 6 million boardings ("TransLink's top 10 most popular bus routes 2023"). Yet, its current schedule does not match this high demand. It is also one of the only routes that connect Burnaby directly to UBC. Introducing a Rapid Bus service on this line will not just benefit us, the healthcare workers, but also anyone relying on this commonly used route. Moreover, it would be an essential step to ensure the longevity of skillful workers in vital services like ours.
