Make it Mandatory for Eateries to print MRP on their Menus

Make it Mandatory for Eateries to print MRP on their Menus

The Issue

Most of the Eateries (Hotels/Restaurants/Bars/Pubs etc) print their base price on the menus and later apply GST/VAT on the bill amount. Some of them even add Service Charges which inflate the final amount and the customer feels cheated in the end. Recently there have been reports that these outlets are not passing on the benefit of Input Tax Credit from GST to the customers.

It is time these people were held accountable by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of the Government of India by making it mandatory for all such outlets to print "all-inclusive" prices on their menus so that the consumers are aware of the final amount they would be required to pay at the end of their meals/drinks.
