Rajini Sir, please dont gift 'inferiority complex' to your fans, cancel 'fair & handsome'
The Issue
Dear Rajinikanth,
How could you, of all the people in the world, sign a deal with Emami's 'Fair and Handsome' brand? You, who stand for everything that this brand is not. That brand is the devil, and you were God.......... at least, till a few days ago. Now, where is the God gone?
You are dark skinned, and you are the biggest Superstar India has ever known! You are popular world-wide, an achievement no other star from India has ever achieved! And you did it on your own, with your own skin, despite the racist skin bias we Indians have against dark skin!
When we see you, we believe that dark skin is not a curse, that dark skin is not a burden, that dark skin is a blessing, and that all of us can be superstars! You make us believe that the advertisements that say white skin is better, are LIES! You inspire us to believe that the Unilevers and Emamis of the world are liars and fakes! You are living proof that 'Fair & Lovely', and 'Fair & Handsome' are frauds!
If you endorse those very brands, which say dark skin is bad and only fair skin is good and valuable, then you are killing the spirit of the millions of your fans! Remember that these dark skinned fans of yours are the ones that made you the Superstar you are today! How could you possibly let them all down? Isn't it sacrilege?
Please cancel this agreement with 'Fair and Handsome', please denounce these brands that are a fraud on society!
If not, for us the Superstar is gone, you would no more be the 'thalaiva' that millions look up to, and admire, but an ordinary human who sells his skin and his soul for a few rupees more!
Please do not let down your fans, please do not let down your countrymen and women, please do the right thing, please help build an India that believes in itself, not one that lacks self-belief! And rise higher as an even bigger superstar than you are now! We believe you would do the right thing eventually!
With Hope!
