Raise the LISA House Buying Limit to Meet Inflation Rates

Raise the LISA House Buying Limit to Meet Inflation Rates
The Issue
I am a part of the younger generation, concerned about our future and wellbeing. We fear that despite our diligent saving efforts, the time we want to use our LISA, the housing prices would skyrocket out of our reach. As of now, the LISA house buying limit has been stagnant since 2017, severely undermining our efforts at building a secure and comfortable future. This is a notable fact, considering the stark rise in house prices fueled by inflation over the last four years.
Recent statistics reveal a cumulative inflation in the UK of around 10% since 2017 (source: ONS). This escalation is directly proportional to the increasing house prices. However, this rise has not been linear, and in regions like London and the South East, the impact is significantly higher. This startling difference is unfair to those of us who are avidly saving, only to find that our diligent work is not met with an equivalent rise in house buying limit.
By aligning the LISA house buying limit with realistic, current housing market prices, the government can better serve its younger citizens. We are not asking for a favour but for a just adjustment of the limits to reflect reality. Our plea to the legislators is: Invigorate the LISA housing framework by adjusting the house buying limit to match the inflating house prices since 2017. It is time to take into account the economic dynamics and inflation rates and adjust LISA accordingly.
Please, sign this petition to help us convey our critical concerns to the government, and to ensure our voices are not neglected.
