Students studying at Penn State Abington and residing in the off-campus housing--College Station Apartments--are heavily impacted by the lack of transportation at the school. Students are having to spend large amounts of money on Lyfts or take multiple modes of public transportation and walk after night classes. This raises a concern of safety and affordability, which the school must aim to resolve. Below is the current Shuttle Schedule: 

7:30 AM - 9:30 AM

3:30 PM - 5:30 PM

The Apartments are 1 hr 2 min away from the college campus by walk. Multiple modes of transportation including a shuttle service, buses, and walk, will take a large amount of time and is unsafe for students after night classes. Students who have classes during the shuttle break time have to take the 9:30 AM shuttle and remain on campus for hours, which is inconvenient. The other option is to pay for Uber, Lyft, or other taxi services. This is unaffordable for many students who are working multiple part-time jobs to pay for tuition, rent, meals, and personal expenses. Some students may even be unable to pay for public transportation. 

Those who have classes during the Shuttle Break times and night classes till 9:00 PM are forced to remain on campus from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Students are struggling to pay for Ubers after night classes. If this continues, students' attendance and academics may suffer. Students may even be put in harm's way when walking after their night classes.

Penn State Abington and College Station Apartments MUST increase their shuttle service availabilities. College students should have access to transportation as promised by the school. Students request that they revise their schedule so It reflects the times below: 

7:30 AM - 11:30 AM

2:30 PM - 8:30 PM

The schedule above will ensure that students don't have to remain on campus for as long, while still providing a 3-hour break time for the drivers. The evening shuttles must be extended as well so that students don't have to go through the hassle of multiple modes of public transportation or paying large sums for Lyfts.
