Several women have noticed that their most recent Radford University alumni magazine is addressed to a "Mr. and Ms. _______ ___________" where the woman's name is erased. I, for example, was addressed by the name of a spouse I am no longer living with, whose name I never took. A spouse who never attended a single class at Radford University and never paid a penny of tuition. Another woman was addressed by the name of a man she had a relationship with two decades ago, but never married. 

The majority of RU Alumni are women, many of us were the first women in our families to attend college. Some of us are still paying for our time at Radford University, some even donate to the University out of paychecks that arrive with our own names on them. Some of us have doctoral degrees and are being referred to as "Ms." instead of "Dr."

We would like to be recognized and respected for who we are, not who we are currently, or were formerly, in a relationship with.
