QUIT BURNING PLASTIC WASTES!

Tons of plastic waste are being produced each day and most people are being irresponsible of disposing them. They scatter it everywhere and others are being burnt that results harmful effects to us and our environment.

 

In our community, this is one of the problem I noticed. Some of our neighbors are using the process of burning to get rid of their plastic wastes, which is very wrong because we all know that this will just cause another problem that we all should be aware of.

 

Burning used plastics releases toxic gasses and causes HARMFUL EFFECTS such as:

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS 

Air Pollution 

• The smoke from burning pollutes the air we breathe.

Climate Change

• Smoke damges our ecosystem, particularly the ozone layes that results changes in the climate.

Soil and Water Pollution 

• Ashes from burning are toxic that pollute our soil and water (groundwater, lakes, rivers, streams) which can also destroy plants and other water creatures.

HEALTH PROBLEMS 

• Smoke from burning causes diseases especially if inhaled.
• Smoke aggravates respiratory ailments like asthma and emphysema.
• Smoke also increases the risk of heart diseases. And more.

How much more if a lot more places were burning their wastes like how our community neighbors are doing? Then, the harmful impacts will surely become greater than we expect it to be.

What can we do to help then? How can we prevent this action from doing?

Here are some of the ways we can do:

Instead of BURNING the plastic wastes, RECYCLE them.

REDUCE using plastics as much as possible and better use ECO-FRIENDLY bags.

CREATE something out of those plastic wastes like ECOBRICKS.

ECOBRICK is a plastic bottle packed with used plastics to set density. They serve as a reusable building blocks. Ecobricks can be used to produced various items including furniture, garden wall, and other structures you wish to make.

 

We should always be responsible with our OWN GARBAGES. There are more inventive ways that we can do to help our environment. Always watch your ACTIONS too because the more you disregard and neglect our environment, the greater it returns back the wrong things we have done and unexpected circumstances we wish we never ever experience might come.
