Did you know that every time a NYS Correctional Officer is deemed medically retired by their doctors they go three years without any form of payment. That means officers who put their life on the line to keep our streets safe, can have their head bashed in and be paralyzed and will go without any retirement payment for three years. Even if retirement is owed anyways because of how many years they have on the job. Completely crazy right!? It’s time to care about our officers and their families by changing this.
