Tell them to honor our run by choosing another date + respecting the work of the Black Trans + Queer Founders, hundreds of volunteers and countless community supporters of The Annual ALL People's Oakland LGBTQ SOLIDARITY 5k Fun Run, Walk + Roll ---->

We are asking that the Queer Gym NOT host their duplicate run (The Queer Gym's 5K run) at Lake Merritt on our annual Oakland Pride Eve date!

In 2013, a group of Black LGBTQ folks founded THE PEOPLE's OAKLAND PRIDE 5K RUN - an annual free run (for all ages, ethnicities, genders, and abilities) to coincide with Oakland Pride and take place on the eve of Pride Day. After coming to the run in 2015, The Queer Gym decided to copy the run idea - in the same space (Lake Merritt Oakland CA) - at the same time and on the same date. The gym is attempting to erase LGBTQ history and displace the precedent-setting free commUNITY-led annual run by literally running over us with their appropriative for-profit run.
