Gerard Baden-Clay's murder conviction was downgraded on appeal from murder to manslaughter.

Gerard Baden-Clay's murder conviction was downgraded on appeal from murder to manslaughter.
The issue
Australian governments and the private sector are making a stand against domestic violence to reduce the number of deaths of women and children and yet, in this climate, Gerard Baden-Clay has his conviction for the killing of his wife downgraded to manslaughter as a result of legal speak from his counsel. This makes a mockery of the Queensland government's stated position on domestic violence and sends the wrong message to victims and perpetrators alike. This ruling by the court must be appealed to give some small justice to Alison Baden Clay, her family and all victims of domestic violence.
