Fight for Adam - Stop Bullying let the Qld Education know we will not accept this anymore.
The issue
On Monday the 23rd of December around 5 pm behind Aminya St shops at Mansfield, Adam Jay who is 12 years old and had just finished his first year at his local high school was severely assaulted by 3 boys between the ages of 15 to 16 who attend the same school as well.
He was in and out of consciousness while being kicked, his head stomped on and was bashed and left to suffer alone. The force of the kicks was that severe that his kidney was torn in half causing internal bleeding. Adam has had 4 operations to dates far, the first being on Christmas Day and will be requiring more in the near future. Whilst in hospital Adam started having nightmares reliving the assault. He is experiencing severe mental and physical trauma.
A week ago Adam was let home under the care of his mother Monique and the hospital although still has tubes in to drain the internal bleeding still draining from his stomach, to heal in his own comfort but sadly returned a few days later after attempting an overdose. He is in no way mentally able to even think about returning back to school in his condition, let alone the fear he is feeling.
This only does not affect him but his older brother as well who is in the same school and grade as the disgusting inhumane bullies who did this unprovoked attack.
It broke my heart to see Adam laying in a hospital bed helpless, non-responsive and unable to move for weeks on end. His mother Monique like any parent went to the ends of the earth to support her child, putting her grief and exhaustion aside so she could stay by his side 24/7. Every visit would bring me to tears to see Adam the way he was and Monique trying to keep it together but falling apart.
Which brings us here.......... The attack and its severities have
made Monique unable to return to work due to Adam now needing 24-hour supervision. She is unsure even whether she will be able to return to work as a home is where she needs to be right now for her son. She is falling more and more behind financially with her mortgage payments and everyday living due to medical expenses, counselling sessions and continuous hospital visits and future operations that are needed and most possibly change of school for her two sons.
Monique is not only my best friend but she is the most loving mother to her sons and
to think of what her son experienced that day has completely broken her.
