END ADMINISTRATION ENABLING OF ABUSERS AT QUEENS HS FOR THE SCIENCES AT YORK COLLEGE

The Issue

The Administration at Queens High School for the Sciences has a sickening history of silencing survivors of abuse all while enabling the abusers. The enabling has gotten to the point where abusers shamelessly are able to claim that they are untouchable. The principal, Ana de Jesus, and current lead administration have done nothing to bring justice to victims of abuse and assault who have bravely shared their stories with the adults at QHSS. The erasure of the stories of these survivors from official records have not erased the deeds of these abusers, nor have they erased the heinous deeds of QHSS administration in hiding all that has happened.

Survivors have come forward with proof and yet have been dismissed by the administration in their efforts to "protect the reputation" of the school. The administration has consistently put the safety of survivors and other students at risk by carelessly disregarding the anonymity of the strong students that come forward. The administration has even gone against the wishes of the survivors and contacted family members, jeopardizing and disregarding the survivors' safety.  The lack of action by QHSS's administration, including the principal, vice-principals, dean, counselors, and all other adults entrusted with the safety and wellbeing of students has allowed for abusers to continue their crimes both on the high school campus and beyond, into college.

Students of QHSS, including alumni, current students, and prospective students, are demanding that the administration be held responsible for their lack of action and their aiding of the actions of the abusers. Our students deserve better - enough is enough.
