Queen Creek Aquatic Center To Consider allowing Non-Residents to enjoy their facilities

Queen Creek Aquatic Center To Consider allowing Non-Residents to enjoy their facilities
The Issue
I, along with many others, live on the outskirts of Queen Creek. This fact has lead to a situation that could not be more unjust and unfair, particularly for the innocent children and families living in my area. Queen Creek Aquatic Center, a public community center, is denying access to us based on where we live. children, who cannot control the part of town they are raised in, are being denied access to a facility that should be for all, regardless the location of our homes. Many other Towns with Aquatic Centers are inclusive to all by still allowing non-residents to enjoy their facilities at a higher price than the residents would have to pay. Based on the feedback we have been receiving, many non-residents people would be happy to pay a few dollars more to be able to use the facility. Why should a zip code determine who can enjoy a swim on a hot day? Discrimination on the basis of residential area is a slippery slope and stands in opposition to the values of equality and inclusivity that a public community center should uphold.
By allowing this policy to stand, we give permission to other businesses to act similarly, creating unnecessary division within our community. We must raise our voices against this today! Let us urge the Queen Creek Aquatic Center to alter this policy that feels unjust thereby ensuring that all citizens, regardless of where they live, can have equal access. Stand with me, sign this petition, and promote equality in our community. With summer approaching we urge the Queen Creek Aquatic Center to please reconsider their choice to not allow non residents in, I truly feel it’s unfair to allow some non-residents in ONLY if they know someone to accompany them that lives in Queen Creek. I feel what is unfair is that decision alone, because not everyone knows someone in QC to take them to your facility and that is not fair to allow some non residents and not all non residents, it goes back to the old saying that you do for one .. you must do for all. Many feel that San Tan Valley and Queen Creek go Hand in Hand with one another and it’s a bit of a shock to many that we are not allowed to use the facility, we urge you to consider a compromise that could allow non residents to pay a few dollars more to get in maybe two months out of the summer or certain days or times you could allow non residents to enjoy it as well. Please remember all the other aquatic centers that have allowed the Queen Creek residents to use their centers while QC residents eagerly awaited for their center to open your doors . Please consider operating like many of the other Aquatic Centers that we all used in the meantime, thank you for your support, this petition reflects the views and opinions of many different people as I want to spark people to use their voices in a positive way! As many of us know.. life is not fair!!!… but it never hurts to try to make it a little better for one another as long as we are here.
