Quaker Oats, please Keep Aunt Jemima

The Issue

I am tired of corporations pandering to people who claim to be "offended" for other groups.

General mills is removing Aunt Jemima as their spokesperson/symbol so as to "not offend blacks". In essence choosing to dishonor a black woman to placate ignorant people today, rather than to stand firm and educate.

Dishonoring this bold pioneer of woman's rights and blacks rights is doing the exact opposite of what you claim to be doing. You know the history of this woman and the great accomplishment it was for her in that time period to secure an honorable job, make a name for herself, and secure her financial future. This was unheard of at the time for a woman, let alone a black woman.  Quaker Oats is in fact hurting the cause of black people and women all around our great country. She was a symbol of all that was good in America and you are tearing her down like you are ashamed of her accomplishments and the ability of black women to rise up and make something of themselves. Please reconsider your removal of this icon.
