Better Practices for Schools

The Issue

Every day we pack in more duties into the little time we have. Once you become an adult you are forced to juggle multiple responsibilities and tasks to be successful. The making simple tasks, such as long addition/ multiplication (completely over complicated), scheduling in so much homework that the kids have only a 20 minute recess, 30 minute lunch (20 after line up), 2 times a day scheduled bathroom breaks (they are discouraged to ask in between), kids not being allowed to get up and get snack, but rather must remember to put in their desk, kids needing to bring water bottles or go ALL day without water, and our last reading assignment which included reading 5 chapters a night is rediculous. Our kindergarteners are learning about "deciduous trees", while feeling behind because they don't fully know the alphabet. The result that we as parents see is children who feel anxious, stressed and discouraged. The result the schools get from parents are frustrated working parents who communicate with eachother instead of schools, and simply give up on attempting to help the kids meet these unrealistic expectations. We need to go back to the drawing boards.
