Ottawa orders the British flag flown for May holiday

This May long weekend, the federal government is telling facilities nationwide to fly the British flag. It's Victoria Day in most provinces, National Patriots' Day in Quebec--either way, a distinctly Canadian holiday. Flying a foreign country's flag for our holidays doesn't make sense. Besides, the day officially marks the birth of the sovereign of Canada--not of Britain. The two offices are separate, but the current flag policy confuses the two. One element of this petition would change that, and see federal installations fly the Canadian flag for this Canadian holiday. Makes sense, doesn't it? It's another timely reason to share this petition with others, and send Ottawa a message that it ought to "Put the Canadian flag first!"
