Put Students Over Party: Democrats Back Nissim·Pack·Dekel
The Issue
Dear Fellow Democrats,
We are a group of proud Democratic voters here in Lower Merion, and we are writing to you as neighbors, parents, and community members who care deeply about the future of our public schools.
This November, we are choosing to support Talia Nissim, Deena Pack, and Omer Dekel for the Lower Merion School Board — three Republican candidates who we believe will bring much-needed change, new ideas, and a student-focused approach to a district that has been stuck in the status quo for too long.
We know this may come as a surprise to some. But here’s why we made this choice.
As Democratic voters, we expected our voices to be heard in the endorsement process. Unfortunately, they weren’t. The party leadership pushed forward a slate of candidates, including multiple incumbents, that many parents and community members feel do not represent the best interests of students or families in our district. Their decisions appear driven more by party loyalty than by what’s best for our schools. Re-endorsing individuals who have sat on the board for years without meaningful progress on core issues does not reflect the values of progress, inclusion, and equity that our party stands for.
We believe it's time to put students over politics.
Our priorities are simple but essential:
- A safer and more inclusive learning environment for every student
- Real progress on closing the education gap
- Strong protections for special education and minority services
- Smart budgeting that reduces unnecessary legal fees and puts resources back into classrooms
We support fiscal responsibility with social responsibility — not budget cuts that hurt vulnerable students, but thoughtful, transparent spending that prioritizes academic success and emotional well-being.
We believe in the power of student voices, collaborative community partnerships, and a School Board that reflects a diversity of perspectives. One-party leadership has dominated our board for too long without the results our students deserve. It’s time for new energy, better ideas, and real accountability.
Because in Lower Merion, our kids deserve leaders who act, who innovate, who listen, and who deliver.
Join us in supporting Nissim, Pack, and Dekel for LMSD School Board, because our kids deserve better.
Sincerely,
Democrats for Nissim Pack & Dekel
