PUT AN END TO WORLD HUNGER

The Issue

Ending World Hunger: A Global Challenge

World hunger is a major global issue that affects millions of people worldwide. It refers to the inability to get enough nutritious food to live a healthy and active life. Hunger is caused not only by a lack of food but also by poverty, inequality, a lack of resources, and political insecurity. Hunger has a serious impact on the health and well-being of individuals, communities, and entire countries, resulting in malnutrition, disease, and even death. It also stifles economic development and perpetuates the poverty cycle. To eradicate world hunger, a multifaceted approach is required, including food production, distribution, and access, as well as addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality

World hunger is on the rise, impacting roughly 10% of the world's population. Between 2019 and 2022, the number of malnourished people increased by up to 150 million, owing mostly to conflict, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic. There is more than enough food produced in the world to feed everyone on earth. Despite this, up to 828 million people go hungry. Of these 828 million people, 345 million are experiencing acute hunger.

Why should we address world hunger and inequality?

We all want our families to have enough food to eat that is both safe and nutritious. A world without hunger can have a positive impact on our economies, health, education, equality, and social progress. It's an important component in creating a brighter future for everyone. Furthermore, with hunger constraining human progress, we will be unable to attain other sustainable development goals such as education, health, and gender equality.
