Put an End to the Inhumane Practice of Animal Testing, Especially on Monkeys

The Issue

As someone deeply disturbed by a viral video from the Humane Society that unveiled the heart-wrenching scenes of helpless monkeys used for testing in a lab, I am compelled to advocate for a drastic change. The sheer terror in the monkey's eyes as it was forcibly fed unknown substances while trapped in a contraption was not only shocking but utterly horrifying. It was equally ghastly to witness other captive monkeys screaming for help from their restraints.

Animal testing is not only cruel, but it often provides inapplicable results due to profound interspecies differences. According to Cruelty-Free International, over 115 million animals are used in experiments worldwide each year. Among these, monkeys, due to their close genetic similarities with humans, are subjected to numerous invasive tests, leading to unimaginable suffering.

We urgently demand an end to this suffering. We exist in a world with rapidly developing technology, and this must include the area of medical research. Alternatives to animal testing, such as in-vitro testing, computer simulations, and human-patient simulators are not only more humane alternatives but can also provide more accurate results that directly correlate with human biology.

No creature should live its life in constant fear and pain, especially for research that could be done differently and more effectively. Let's stand together against animal testing, particularly on our primate cousins, who have the same capacity for fear, and joy, as we do.

For the sake of these monkeys, and countless other animals, subjected to the cruel realities of scientific research, we need to take collective action. The terror in their eyes should serve as a desperate cry for change. Please, sign this petition to call for an end to animal testing and the promotion of cruelty-free alternatives in research.
