Put an End to Mandatory Hijab Wearing Practices

Put an End to Mandatory Hijab Wearing Practices
The Issue
Personally affected by what I deem as two-tier policing, I am starting this petition to call attention to a pertinent issue that needs addressing - mandatory Hijab wearing. The freedom of women is at stake when they are forced into wearing any garment, in this case, the Hijab. This does not just pose a threat to the liberty of women but also hinders the effectiveness of facial recognition systems in our society.
In a secular society, covering one's face for religious reasons while others are not allowed to do so, potentially creates an unfair divergence, stirring up unnecessary discontentment. The Christian majority, for instance, is not permitted to cover their faces in public.
Comparing ourselves to countries like France, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, and others, where the Hijab has been banned in public spaces, we see an attempted balance of safety, unity, and freedom of expression (Reuters, 2018). These countries have tackled similar issues by implementing practices conducive to the majority, while still respecting individual faiths and practices.
Therefore, it is essential for us to address and resolve this growing concern. I urge you to sign this petition and help stop the enforcement of wearing Hijabs, thus promoting equal treatment and security for all.
