The Issue

Michael Lovejon was not only a loving son, father, and friend, he was also an innocent victim of a brutal pitbull attack. Less than two weeks ago, he lost his life in this tragic incident while I, a firsthand witness, tried to implement life-saving measures until the emergency services arrived. Yet, disturbingly, the owner of the pitbull made no attempt to contain the dog or intervene while the attack on Michael occurred.

Despite this horrifying incident and the owner's negligent actions, no charges have been pressed by the county's Sheriff's Office. We believe this is a gross oversight of justice. It is vital to highlight that this dog had a previous history of aggression, posing a dangerous threat to humans and other animals alike.

Apart from the need for justice for Michael, this incident also raises bigger questions about pet ownership and accountability. This is not an isolated issue. In the United States alone, an estimated 4.7 million dog bites occur each year (American Veterinary Medical Association). Neither the victims nor their families should have to deal with the pain and suffering that results from an animal attack - especially when it could have been prevented through responsible pet ownership and enforcement of existing animal control laws.

Justice for Michael is more than just an individual's demand for retribution; it's a call for a fundamental change in how we handle cases of vicious animal attacks and the need for stringent measures against irresponsible pet owners. We need your support to apply public pressure on the Sheriff's office to press charges against the dog's owner.

Please, stand with us and demand justice for Michael Lovejon. Sign this petition today.
