Hoodline reported on June 10th, 2021 that Slim's new owner would be "YOLO Nightclub," a sister effort of Pure Nightclub Sunnyvale, with some concerning advertising.

These advertisements center around the objectification of women, but objectification and sexualization of any person should not be normalized or acceptable today, especially within the nightclub and dance venue industry, where sexual assault and safety has been a pervasive issue for years.

While it appears their social media accounts are hurrying to remove evidence of their "tone deaf" posts, we must let it be known that these acts, like creating incentives of "bringing 5+ girls or more" continue to make a problematic issue normalized and encouraged.

This petition aims to make it known that instead of removing posts or attempting to virtue-signal (which it hasn't but can assume will come in time), is not ample "damage control."

We demand that the Owners, Investors, and Employees of these venues (Pure Nightclub Sunnyvale, YOLO Nightclub SF) undergo mandatory sexual harassment training and unconscious bias training as a preliminary first step to better educate and understand the very issue they are breeding.

While it would be better if these clubs would stop these practices all together, we recognize that change must come within, and that an act of good faith within the Bay Area community would be the least these profitable businesses can do.
