Petland Robinson PA No More PUPPY MILL dogs! Switch to only adopt out shelter dogs!

The Issue

According to the Humane Society of the United States, approximately 2 MILLION puppy mill dogs are sold each year. Consequently, also approximately 2 or more MILLION healthy, adoptable shelter dogs are killed each year due to lack of space and overcrowded shelters. No-kill and open door shelters take in THOUSANDS of unwanted, stray, neglected, and abused pets each year, some are dogs that were purchased at pet stores. Supply and demand shows that if people would stop purchasing puppies from pet stores like most Petlands (E. Liberty Pittsburgh is an exception and a few others across the country), and instead adopted from shelters or responsible rescue organizations, we could end the problem of pet homelessness.

Paperwork taken directly from purchased puppies at Petland Robinson shows that these puppies are shipped from as far as Missouri (Hunte Corporation) which is the largest producer of puppy mills in the U.S. Workers will try to tell you that they have personally been to the places where their puppies come from. They'll tell you that their puppies all come from USDA inspected kennels. Do not be fooled. USDA inspected is basically a joke and they are still PUPPY MILLS! Puppy mills are basically factory farms for dogs. What people don't realize is that while the puppy in the window is cute, the mother and father of those puppies will NEVER leave their cages for years-even 10 years or more. They're overbred, inbred, and rarely to never see a veterinarian. They live in feces and they never have the things that a dog should have-adequate shelter, food, exercise, and love and care. When they can no longer produce puppies, they are killed. What a miserable existence. We have the power to change this.

If Petland Robinson would switch to a humane model of only adopting out shelter dogs instead of puppy mill dogs shipped from several states away, we could help shut these inhumane puppy mills down and save lives. Adoption or going to a RESPONSIBLE breeder (responsible breeders would NEVER sell their puppies to a pet store) should be the only option at this point in time while the problem of pet homelessness and needless, adoptable dogs dying continues.
